The Hilltop Super Oxygenation Facial

By now, we all know that oxygen is vital to breathing and living. But did you know it’s also vital to how your skin looks? Lack of oxygen causes dullness, sagging, dryness, and crepe-iness.

This type of super facial has an immediate beautifying effect and improves the skin for the long term with improved micro-circulation that provides more oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells. Unlike standard oxygen facials, the Super Oxygenation treatment doesn’t push oxygen into your skin (which can sometimes lead to redness and sensitivity). Rather, it makes the oxygenation occur from the inside. This process happens via the Bohr Effect.

 

The Bohr effect: a physiological phenomenon where an increase in blood CO2 concentration leads to a decrease in blood pH, resulting in hemoglobin proteins releasing their load of oxygen. 

In layman’s terms: introducing large amounts of CO2 to the skin’s exterior will result in hemoglobin proteins releasing oxygen and clearing the skin from the inside out.

To get this process to happen on and under your skin,  a gel is applied all over your face, then a smooth capsule made of sodium bicarbonate, citric acid and magnesium is placed on the end of a vibrating device. When the capsule touches the active-ingredient rich gel formula it creates carbon dioxide bubbles, which causes oxygen-enriched blood to come to the surface. 

The process gives clients three-pronged results: exfoliating the dermis, infusing skin by aiding in deeper penetration of ingredients and oxygenating skin, which increases capillary flow and skin metabolism. Basically, you’re going to glow.

Preparing for your Super Oxygenating Facial:
There aren't any major prep steps that need to be obliged by leading up to an Oxygenation facial. However, if you'd like to speed up the process, consider arriving at your appointment without any makeup on. Other than that, go about your day as usual.

What to expect during the facial:
A thick nutrient rich gel is applied over the entire face, then buffing begins using the capsule best suited to your skin concerns.The exfoliation process is dual in that the capsule’s interaction with the nutrient rich gel will produces 1000’s of tiny CO2 bubbles across the surface of the skin. You will feel a mild tingle. Please feel free to discuss with your practitioner should you feel any discomfort.
After the exfoliation, the gel is removed from the skin, then applied  again for the antioxidant infusion step. Using ultrasound technology, the gel is infused into the deeper layers of the skin.
The final step is a massage - this process not only relaxes the facial muscles, but allows for further penetration of the nutrient rich gel into the dermis.
